Pinoy Immigrant Dies 2 Months After Landing in Canada, Asking for Assistance
New immigrants know how good it feels when you get to land in Canada with your family. Couple of months in and you will still feel the high of being in a new place and starting anew with your loved ones. However, it is not the case for the Gasmena family.
Mario Gasmena, together with his wife, Jean Gasmena, and three kids, arrived in Winnipeg last May 2017. They were under the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP). He was a father to a 14, 17 and 19 year olds. He was fortunate to get a job right away. All was well until the fateful day of June 22, 2017. Mario suffered from a terrible stroke. After 4 days in the hospital, he was declared brain dead. He was 45 years old. Back in the Philippines, they are from Munoz, Nueva Ecija.
After suffering from the unexpected loss of a loved one, the Gasmena family is now faced with the funeral costs which are considerably high. They have tried soliciting financial help from the Employment and Income Assistance Office but they were turned down because the show money in their account was from a loan they availed in the Philippines. They are now trying to knock on your generous hearts for support and donations.
You may deposit or e-transfer any amount to Jean Gasmena. Here are her details:

The Gasmena family is now trying to move past this unfortunate event as it would be what Mario would have wanted. Let us pray for them in this difficult time. The viewing will be held at the Mosaic Funeral Homes, 1839 Inkster Blvd, on Sunday, July 2, at 6pm.
