The City of Winnipeg Annual Snow Route Ban is in effect from December 01 to March 01 each and every year.  Motorist cannot park their vehicles on designated snow routes between the hours of 2 a.m. and 7 a.m. (Note: This year, tickets will only be issued from 2:00 a.m. to 6:00 a.m.).

In the event of additional overnight plowing is required on snow routes, the Annual Snow Route Parking Ban is extended for two hours called Declared Snow Route Parking Ban. Vehicles are prohibited from parking on snow routes from midnight to 7:00 a.m. (Note: This year, tickets will only be issued from 12 m.n. to 6:00 a.m.)

Parking tickets for violating the ban are $100, which can be reduced to $50 if paid early and vehicles may be towed to the towing company’s compound.

It is important that snow routes are kept clear to guarantee emergency vehicles to navigate safely and quickly as possible around the city.

Winter Parking Ban Update

This winter, the City of Winnipeg is proceeding with all winter parking bans as usual with one change – tickets will only be issued from 11:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. The reason for this change is that the Highway Traffic Act only permits ticketing without signage during this timeframe and our winter parking bans extend beyond these hours. This recently came to our attention and we are working to correct this by collaborating with the province on a resolution.

For the annual snow route parking ban or any declared snow route parking ban that may be required, tickets will only be issued until 6:00 a.m., instead of the usual 7:00 a.m., on snow routes.
