The newly-elected US president has been issuing executive orders regarding its immigration policies. The new administration has promised to deport priority cases of undocumented immigrants living in the US. This is just one of the several steps they are taking in order to secure the US borders.

A special envoy from the Philippines, Jose Manuel “Babe” Romualdez, has shared the information he received from Washington. The US government has identified about 310,000 undocumented Filipino immigrants from 3.4 Million Filipinos living in the US. He has also warned these Filipinos.

“I think they (Filipino illegal imigrants) should really be prepared to go home,” Romualdez said.

“I want to emphasise that, despite many rumours out there, we continue to welcome Filipino visa applicants.” – Sung Kim, US Ambassador to the Philippines

Naturally, Filipinos turn to the current President in a time like this. Unfortunately, PH President Duterte, released a statement that he “will not lift a finger” to help Filipinos at risk of deportation. He said that he will not interfere in the affairs as respect to US President Trump’s policies.

As due process might result to deportation, these Filipinos may want to consider moving to Canada. Canadian immigration programs are open for everyone who qualifies. This year’s target for immigrants is 300,000 and they could be part of this. As the Prime Minister tweeted, #WelcomeToCanada.
