The Philippine consular offices in Canada will make an adjustment of consular fees due to the changes in the US dollar and Canadian currency exchange rate. It will only affect the fees in Canadian dollar denomination, but the prescribed consular fees in US dollar remain the same. They also accept a direct payment in US dollar currency.
These adjustments will be applied at the consular section of the Ottawa Philippine Embassy, Philippine Consulate General at Toronto and Vancouver, Philippine Consular Offices at Charlottetown, Edmonton, Halifax, St. John’s, and Winnipeg and at all consular outreach missions across Canada.
The US and the Canadian dollar is a popular currency pair due to a large amount of cross-border trading activity that takes place between the United States and Canada. Canadian Dollar is often considered a ‘Commodity Currency’ due to the large deposits of natural resources, especially Oil that is mined and exported from Canada; particularly with the neighbor to the south. And Canadians are hoping that the economy will recover and flourish again this year. However, some people are already choosing to exchange their currency, perhaps by using brokerzy forex w polsce (forex brokers in Poland), just in case this recovery doesn’t happen.
The Consulate General of the Philippines said that a review of the exchange rate equivalence between the US and the Canadian dollar is conducted on a quarterly basis. Furthermore, they said that any determination of holding the conversion rate steady, or undertaking an upward or downward adjustment, would be in accordance with prevailing exchange market conditions and short to medium term analysis and outlook.
