Ever wonder how to describe Filipino traits to your Canadian officemate, neighbor, schoolmate or others? Well, you might find this interesting, here’s the top 8 classic Filipino culture:
1.We speak Tagalog and our looks don’t grow old. We look young for our age.
2. We always include rice in our dish. Or say, we eat with rice for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Then, we eat sometimes by using our bare hands. How? We grab a small portion of rice and packed it with whatever “ulam” (dish) we have like meat, fish, veggies etc.
3. We use “tabo” (according to Wikipedia, it is dipper in English) in a washroom. It is a Filipino hygiene tool for bathing, cleansing or cleaning.
4. When entering a Filipino friend’s house, be shy like a mouse. You might intimidate the elders if you have the “feel like home” attitude already.
5. Most of the Filipino households here in Canada have Videoke at home. We love to sing!
6. Go “bless” to any Filipino elderly that you will see in a friend’s house because that is one way of greeting them politely. And we say “po” and “opo” as a sign of respect.
7. We have Filipino baby games like “beautiful eyes,” “close-open-close-open,” and “eat Bulaga (Filipino peekaboo version).
Beautiful eyes are what Filipino people say to babies to get them to open and close their eyes or flashing their eyelids. It is sometimes a motor skill games for babies.
