Ineligible Occupations for Alberta Opportunity Stream


The Canadian province of Alberta Immigration authorities have announced a new immigration stream under the Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program (AINP). It will be known as the Opportunity stream. However, not all occupations are eligible.

Factors for an occupation to be ineligible include, but are not limited to:

  • individuals in occupation are self-employed
  • individuals in occupation are seasonally employed
  • individuals in occupation must be permanent residents to perform occupation
  • limited economic value of occupation, and/or
  • economic need filled by Albertans and Canadians

Check the list of ineligible occupations below. If your current Occupation Title is on this list, you will NOT be eligible to apply under the Alberta Opportunity Stream.

* Refers to a National Occupation Classification (NOC) Code which consists of both eligible occupations and ineligible occupations. The ‘Occupation Title’ column specifies which occupations are ineligible for each NOC Code listed.

Note: Applications are not being accepted under the Alberta Opportunity Stream until January 2, 2018. The information below is for reference purposes only. Applications for the Alberta Opportunity Stream postmarked before January 2, 2018 will not be accepted.
