Growing up in a Filipino household, Pinoys learn to do household chores. If you think learning these chores were a waste of time back then, you might want to think again. These household chores are very similar to housekeeping duties which you can venture into as a career abroad.
PASONA, a Japanese recruiting company in Manila, has been working with a manpower agency, Magsaysay Global Services, in training the first batch of Filipino Professional Housekeepers to be deployed in Japan. According to Marlon Rono, President of Magsaysay Global Services, each of these Pinays has undergone the 400 hours or two months of training. The training includes language, and practical housekeeping lessons such as how to operate Japanese appliances. For the housekeepers to be successful in their job in Japan, it is important that they understand the culture and language.
These housekeepers are different from domestic helpers. Their work hours will be 8 hours per day with different client assignment each day. They will not be staying in homes of clients but instead, in an apartment building with shared kitchen, living room and bathrooms. They will also be given iPhones according to Scott Sato, President and COO of PASONA. The Japanese company is very confident about hiring Filipina housekeepers and deploying them in Japan since a lot of them is needed in hotels, restaurants, and other establishments.
The average salary of a Japanese housekeeper in Japan is JPY168,000 per month. This is the same salary that the Filipina Professional housekeepers will be receiving which comes out as more than PHP70,000 per month. Aside from this compensation, their benefits include days off and vacation leave.
