Winnipeg is now home to the only two Jollibee stores in Canada as the second branch opened earlier today in Northgate Mall, Winnipeg, MB. Close to the first anniversary of the first Jollibee store along Ellice Avenue, the second store was welcomed by a line similar to the first with many spending the night prior.
Jollibee Canada announced on their Facebok page yesterday that they will be giving away Jollibee plush dolls to the first 100 customers with a minimum $20 purchase. Because of this, the line up started as early as Monday night at 10pm. The doors opened at 7am and by 8am, the number of people in line has already exceeded 100.
“I was second last year, so I wanted to be first this year,” Jorge Losorata said. “I was kind of jealous.” Losorata was the first in line out of more than 60 people when the doors opened at 7am.
“It”s the second restaurant. We were absolutely surprised that people would still line up, but we’re very excited and we’re very ecstatic that people are still welcoming Jollibee to the community,” said Maribeth Delacruz, Jollibee Canada’s vice-president. She added to say that while there will be more Jollibee stores opening in Winnipeg, the third store in Canada will be in Toronto in the new year.
The blessing of this branch was also well represented by public officials such as Jon Reyes and Nic Curry, members of the Legislative Assembly of Manitoba. Click on the slideshow below to see photos.
