PH Consul General Passes Away in Toronto

ccording to the official announcement made by the Philippine Consulate General in Toronto, Consul General to Toronto, Rosalita Sayoc Prospero, has passed away in the early morning of Tuesday, May 28.

To honour her memory, consulate office has organized a signing of the Book of Condolence and a memorial service on June 4th and 8th, respectively.

Prior to being a consul general of the Philippines in Toronto, Canada on May 24, 2015, Prospero served as Executive Director of the Office of American Affairs of the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) which led to her assignment to Toronto.

Prospero came from a family of educators, from her great-grandparents to her own mother. Unlike her family members, she chose to take a different career path which was in foreign service

Her first time to be appointed as a vice consul and then consul was in Sydney, Australia. She then served as minister and consul general at the Philippine Embassy in Paris, France and then, later on, became the minister and permanent deputy representative to the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).

As a consul general, Prospero aimed to serve and protect each Filipino immigrant or Filipino-Canadians who struggle to have a better life in Canada. We join everyone in praying for her and her family.
