Michelle De Roma is the lucky winner of the $39.5 million jackpot prize in the Lotto Max Draw that was held on Friday, December 28, 2018.
The mother-of-three was on a Boxing Day shopping trip at the Tsawwassen Mills outlet mall on Dec. 26 when she purchased the winning ticket.
De Roma decided to scan her ticket to check her winnings when it showed ‘it’s a winner,’ and then the number $39 million came up. She immediately told her husband who hugged and kissed her and shouted, ‘Wow!’
The couple decided to wait several days before coming forward and cashing in their winnings. They didn’t even tell their kids right away. They eventually found out as soon as the news came out when they claimed the prize on January 4th.
De Roma says the money will be used to buy a new home, to travel with her family and to support her kids.
She plans to move out of Surrey but has yet to decide which city they will be moving to. Moreover, she plans to travel with her family including her mother-in-law. Their destination: Europe.
“Our lives have been changed forever. Dreams really do come true.” said De Roma
