Pinoy-Canada.com is a one-stop-source of everything from immigration updates to life tips in Canada. It is an online blog that has become popular to the Filipino community in Canada. The site features include an articles page, quizzes page and a forum page. As a recent update, the site will now have e-classified ads. Right on time for his birthday and this is his gift for everyone!
Nathan Miguel, the blog site founder, migrated to Canada 2 years ago and has already been developing the site for the better. As the most recent development to the site, he added the e-classified ads in order to capitalize on the website traffic. Because of this, the site is the newest entrant into the online classifieds sites. The blog site went online two years ago with the tagline: “One-Stop-Shop for Filipinos Living in Canada.” With the e-classified ads feature, Filipinos in Canada who visit the site can easily look for a room, buy and sell items among fellow Filipinos. This way, the site can start looking into maximizing its revenues with paid advertisements relevant to the site.
Advantage:
Unlike the major players, you have better chances of getting other Pinoys’ interest. For instance, if you post an ad about looking for a bedspacer, chances are Pinoys will be seeing the ad and they will be inquiring about it. Same is the case if you are looking for a place and you prefer to have a Pinoy landlord, the blog will be the best place to visit.
About the feature:
Just like any other e-classified ads, Pinoy-Canada.com has integrated a recaptcha system to protect users from spammers. The feature also has integrated maps and locations for better reference. As for the user interface, adding and maintaining your ads are sure to be a breeze.
Future Plan:
A mobile app is in the works! It will have a built-in geospatial feature, like a GPS, where in it will allow its users to discover products near their location.
Currently, the site acquires its users through organic search, word of mouth and cold calling. It is preferable for now that the site gains some traction without spending on marketing activities. The site’s Facebook page now has over 70,000 followers with about 1 million engagement each month. When the right time comes, they will look at getting investors, according to Miguel.
In the months to come, Miguel, together with the other bloggers of the site, aims to continue providing informative tips to aspiring immigrants and the Filipino community in Canada. With online advertising, they plan to help Filipino entrepreneurs in Canada by providing them a platform to reach their target consumers because they believe that when these businesses succeed, it will contribute to the betterment of the economy. Bayanihan is still a prominent Filipino trait that the people behind the site clearly possess.
