Pinoy Couple in Burnaby Wins $100k 6/49 Lotto Prize

Winning the lottery can sure feel like Christmas. You can ask Lorenzo and Maria Urbano as they won the $100k 6/49 Lotto prize a couple of days before Christmas!

The Urbanos from Burnaby purchased their lucky winning ticket at the Shefield Express inside Metropolis at Metrotown mall. It was also in that lottery retailer where they found out they won big after using the self-check scanner.

“I didn’t really have a good look at the scanner so I told my wife right away,” Lorenzo recalled.

“At first I thought he was joking so we checked the ticket again,” said Maria. “I pulled him aside and told him it wasn’t $10,000, but $100,000. My first thought was holy smokes!”

They called up their daughter right away to share the news. According to the couple, they plan to share some of the money with their family and to give back to their church.
