We have released an article before that Seafood City, a Filipino supermarket with over 20 locations in the U.S., is coming to Canada. Now, we have an update. Its first location is confirmed to be in Mississauga and it’s actually going to be bigger than expected!
According to the marketing coordinator with the Orlando Corporation, Paola Caldaroni, the store will actually be 50,000 square feet rather than 35,000 as initially planned. It will be located in the Heartland Town Centre area, along Mavis Road and Boyer Boulevard.
Having it bigger is definitely something exciting for everyone who plans to shop at the popular and diverse supermarket. However, with the expansion in square footage, management are now reapplying for permits. Thus, the opening of the store will be delayed until the Fall instead of the initial plan this Spring. Fans waiting for Jollibee will have to wait until Fall as well.

The Canadian location is expected to be just like the American ones. You will find the convenient hot food section called Grill City where you can order and savour delicious Filipino style BBQ of Tilapia, chicken, pork, Bangus and squid. As already announced, Jollibee, the largest fast food chain in the Philippines, will be opening a store inside the soon-to-open Seafood City location. It offers burgers, chicken, noodles, rice meals, sandwiches and breakfast with Filipino twist. These are the Pinoy favorites that everyone can enjoy in Mississauga just like in Winnipeg.
The store will also offer a range of Asian and North American staples. With a bigger space and more time, the huge supermarket will surely be worth the wait. You will be getting a little more on your visit when it opens. The opening date has not been confirmed yet. Stay tuned and we will keep you posted on more details.
