Marby John Aguilar is a 32-year old Tooling Technician at Dixon Group Canada. Back in the Philippines, his home was in Mandaluyong City. He was 20 years old when he was sponsored by his aunt to come to Winnipeg. As an Information Technology Graduate, a better life was all that he hoped for when he moved here.

As young as he was, homesickness was inevitable. It was an obstacle he overcame by keeping in touch with his family and friends back home. How can you not miss home? The beautiful places across the country, tropical weather, local delicacies and the Filipino culture that we are all used to.

From his stay here of more than a decade, he has been through so much, learned a lot and grown to succeed. Because of equality, job opportunities, peace and order ever-present in this city he now calls home, he has adapted to this life really well. He is now an entertainment producer and business owner.

Interestingly, this newfound career as a producer happened by accident. Yes, Success sometimes happens by accident.  Aguilar dreamt to organize a small-size local event featuring Filipino artists. He had a hard time at first and got frustrated that he could not organize one. After a short while of doing research, visualizations and dreaming, an unexpected opportunity came. A concert tour of Parokya ni Edgar with Gloc-9 was promoted on a website in the US. He tried to get in touch with the promoters via email. Eventhough he has not fully grasped yet the ins and outs of the line of work, he has convinced the promoters with his hyped up enthusiasm that they finally entrusted him with a side show of the tour. With a few of his friends, they sold 800 tickets in just one week. It was then that they found the market and potential of this business. It was then that the Pinoy Tribe Entertainment (PTE) was born.

As of today, PTE has organized 13 Major Events for the past four years. They have brought to Winnipeg great Filipino artists like Ely Buendia, Parokya Ni Edgar, Gloc-9, Kamikazee, Bamboo, WolfGang, Kitchie Nadal, Mocha Girls, and Charice. It gives him pride and joy to bring enjoyment to our kababayans here in Winnipeg. “It feels good to bring our kababayans closer to home,” he said. “We are very graetful for their support from day one.”

To pay tribute to their humble beginnings, PTE is bringing back Parokya Ni Edgar to Winnipeg on March 26, 2017 for a concert. And you can now buy your tickets here @ Pinoy-Canada.com.
