Why do Pinoys love Jollibee?

The Jollibee craze is here! On the opening day, about 1,300 orders were served at the first Jollibee in Canada and more is expected for the coming days. This wouldn’t be possible if our kababayans were not persistent enough to fall in line waiting in the cold for hours. Other local residents of Winnipeg who don’t know what Jollibee is would think these Pinoys are crazy, but they just won’t understand.
We’ve asked some Pinoys to tell us what they love about Jollibee and why lining up in the cold for hours is worth it.
“I guess not to mention talaga namang Pinoy Sarap Taste kaya gustong gusto natin, somehow we can relate to Jollibee which started from a humble beginning and worked its way up to success to now (being) No.1 in the Philippines. Parang tayo, masipag, matiyaga, may malasakit sa kapwa at pagmamahal sa pamilya.” – JP Sumbillo – Owner of Funshots Photobooth
It’s a taste of home…Nothing can beat Jollibee who perfectly captured the Pinoy taste, kids and adult alike.? I salute those who lined up at Jollibee. You’re never insane nor crazy as some people were saying and posting in their (social media) statuse. That just showed how YOU MISS HOME.. <3 And I’m with you. – Elaine Tumbokon – 204FM Admin
It is simply because of that distinct Filipino originality that makes us feel closer to our (home) country and I believe that Jollibee somehow inspires us that even if we are in a foreign land, there is that Filipino spirit that makes us unite as one, aside from the Crispylicious and Juicylicious of course. I can’t quite pinpoint what to love. It’s like love at first sight, it’s quite hard to explain it. The food is not really award-winning but it’s just good to make you come back for more. It is the right langhap sarap, juicylicious and sweetness that Pinoys of all ages look for in their food. – Anonymous – Baka daw ibash
This hype is really more about the emotions Jollibee brings to Pinoys. There’s nothing too special about it when it comes to the food. It’s just another fried chicken recipe that appeals to the Filipino palate. If you’re curious about the taste of the food, go ahead and try the selections. Enjoy! – Anonymous
I honestly love Jollibee because it gives me the feeling of nostalgia from growing up in the Philippines. The smell, the look, the people and the ambiance of each restaurant is similar that you’ll really feel being transported back to the Philippines. And when you get a taste of the food, it’s just like you’re a kid again sitting with your family after church on a Sunday. – Henry Balanial – Photographer
Without a doubt, there will be different reasons and different things that make Pinoys around the world love Jollibee. Whatever the reason is, when you are a Pinoy in a different country and you see a Jollibee, just go for it! You deserve every bite because Jollibee is made by a Filipino for Filipinos all over the world.
